04 May 2010
It is now the perfect time of year to start thinking of staying warm and
dry. What better excuse to get out those unfinished projects or start a
new quilting project. I can think of nothing more satisfying to beat the
winter blues.
We have been hard at work this last quarter planning and trying to get
some exciting offerings for you the customer.
We have received a large shipment of quality cotton fabrics from the US:
Fairy collections, Zany cats collection, a Floral range of beautiful
flowers in bloom, Aviator Dogs, ballerina Ice skaters, Mermaids, Kiddies
book panel, lovely basics & tonals, Batiks and leafy designs.
Our Block of the month has not only been fun but very interesting and
informative. The ladies who have partaken have all learnt a great deal
and been exposed to new ways of doing things. We have been working with
the Marti Mitchel templates for the last two years and have produced
some beautiful quilts.
There is a new BLOCK OF THE MONTH (BOM) starting in September and a
choice of two colour ways. – Tonga Batiks or Back to Nature prints. This
is different to the template cutting BOM and teaches the participants to
plan their fabric cuts as well as the use of their rotary ruler and
rotary cutting skills.
Anyone wanting to do the previous BOM’s please call Mandy to discuss.
The cost is only R285 per month for the fabric and monthly pattern
instructions for a period of 12 months. If you want to know more log
onto www.thequiltingbug.co.za or come and see us. There is limited
space. This is also great for long distant learners.
We have some great QUILT KITS and PATTERNS for sale. All you need to do
is start cutting and sewing. There are over a 100 PATTERNS to choose
from – Traditional, Juvenile, Table Toppers/Wall hangings and Scrappy
patterns.
CHARM PACKS in varied sizes and themes are available. We have some
wonderful Kits where we have designed or chosen designs and fabrics to
compliment the patterns. See our web page or come to the shop to see the
kits. We will be taking these Kits with to Good Hope.
We have unfortunately sold out of our BALI POPS. This beautiful
collection was no sooner received than sold out. We have a large order
expected in July of both the new collection as well as the present
collection.
In June we will be expecting another large order of QUILTING STENCILS
both plastic stencils as well as Stencils on a roll. Please phone us or
send an e mail if you wish to receive a reminder when these Bali and
quilting templates arrive.
We stock a number of PLASTIC TEMPLATES for various blocks for hand
sewing. These are ideal for ladies who are wanting accurately cut
templates, that need only be traced onto fabric and cut out.
The FULL RANGE OF THE NEW QUILTER’S COLLECTION by Da Gama is on our
shelves. The colour way is Tea Dye, Blue & Moss Green. The designs
include a paisley as well as Tone on Tone leaves. See on our web page
under South African Fabrics in the shopping section.
We have a COMPREHENSIVE SELECTION OF various quality THREADS. We stock
Guitermann, Mettler, Zwiggy – in the Quilting, Variegated colours as
well as plain coloured cotton thread,
Seralon Polyester Thread, YLI and Madeira. To compliment this range of
thread we also have a large selection of Hand and Machine Needles.
Or mission is to be a Quilting and Patchwork Paradise so as not to
compromise on quality and range we have and hopefully will remain
strictly a Patchwork and Quilting shop and continue to offer a WIDE
SELECTION OF QUALITY FABRICS & NOTIONS. Some are listed below:
