No previous sewing experience is required. In the course you will be
taught no less than 8 different patchwork techniques using both the hand
and machine methods.
You will learn from start to finish to complete a quilt.
The course will teach you to design your own patterns and have a better
understanding when reading patchwork and quilting books.

A pre requisite of this course is that you are able to do free hand
quilting (with feed dog dropped).
You will learn to make a quilt using trupunto techniques and sewing in
manageable panels. These will be joined at a later stage to make a quilt
as small or as large as you want.
JAPANESE FOLDED
PATCHWORK

The popular square
wrapped in a circle design look could not be made easier and quicker than
by machine. This method can lead to many projects, some good examples are
table runners, coasters, placemats, bags, kiddies Peek a Boo quilts…. As
this project can be used as a quilt as you go, there is no joining of
seams or bindings. Each block is completed and you can continue to add on
at a later stage – making it a Quilt as you go.

Ruler magic in
making a DIAMOND FOUR PATCH QUILT

Learn how to make this
simple yet lovely quilts consisting of 60 degree and 30 degree diamonds.
Learn how to match
diamond seams from pre cut strip sets. Cut 60 degree diamonds,
equilateral diamonds and long half diamonds.
All this is done with
your standard rotary ruler.
REVERSIBLE QUILT
AS YOU GO TECHNIQUE

Using this technique you are able to
intricately quilt a quilt from a table runner to a king size quilt
with relative ease as there is no bulky or fiddly bits under your machine.
For the class we will do a reversible table runner.
Learn to put on two
different coloured sashings of either side of the quilted blocks -
eliminating the bulk of a standard quilt been forced through your machine.
Learn to bind the quilt
using two different coloured bindings.

Conditions for Classes
1. A R100 – 00 non refundable
deposit is to be paid in cash for all courses. the remainder a week before
the course.
2. On booking you
are required to pay your deposit and will be supplied
with a requirement list.
3. Kits are available for all
classes if pre booked at time of deposit.
4. All classes start at 9h30.
Please ensure you are early and ready to start sewing at this time.
5. For a
beginners patchwork course you are requested to purchase the fabric from
our store. we will offer you a 5% discount if you the complete kit
is purchased from us.
6. A maximum of 4 – 6 people per
class. Depending on the course and space
needed. This also allows for more individualized attention.
external teaches require 5 or more students.
7. If applicable, we request that
in order to make a course worthwhile and enjoyable
for all, all pre work is to be completed prior to next lesson.
