The Quilting Source Book

Author:

ISBN:  1-85585-486-4

Review:  Not a First Choice for a Beginner

This book has good illustrations showing strip piecing, curves, squares & triangles, mosaics and quilting patterns.

There is useful information on hand sewing and quilting, the transferring of Quilting designs onto fabric and the making of templates.

This book would however not be a first choice for a beginner quilter.

QUILTS! QUILTS!!
Quilts!!! : The Complete Guide to Quiltmaking

Quilts! Quilts! Quilts!: The Complete Guide to Quiltmaking

Author:  Diana McClun, Laura Nownes (Contributor)

ISBN:  0844226173

Review:  I made the mistake of reading this book directly after having read  'YOUR FIRST QUILT BOOK: OR IT SHOULD BE! ", so I think I may have been biased when evaluating it.  It remains a very good book, particularly if you're quilting your first sampler and would like step-by-step instructions on completing each individual block.  Good book for a Beginner.

Price:  I bought it for R199.16 in November 2003.

THE QUILTERS ULTIMATE VISUAL GUIDE: FROM A TO Z--HUNDREDS OF TIPS AND TECHNIQUES FOR SUCCESSFUL QUILTMAKING

Quilter's Ultimate Visual Guide: From A to Z - Hundreds of Tips and Techniques for Successful Quiltmaking

Author:  Ellen Pahl (Editor)

ISBN:  0875969879

Review:  This is an excellent reference book to keep at hand.  Most of the sections have a "troubleshooting tip" for identifying the reason behind common mistakes and allows you to make those small refinements to your patchwork technique.  Excellent teaching-aidThe book discusses all aspects of patchwork and quilting. It covers the basic quilt making techniques, knowledge on specialized techniques for more advanced quilters.  It has been one of my best buys thus far.

Price:  I bought it for R163.96 in November 2003.
